GREAT SERVICE

GREAT SERVICE. Things went really well with Canadian Moving Systems movers, they were well prepared for the LOADING AND UNLOADING. Very punctual, and the price wasn't bad at all. I found them through an ad, and the sales rep was really quick to look up estimates and helped out very well.

Smashed Hutch.

They had one item to move, a hutch. We were charged extra for wrapping materials after the quote. They DEMANDED the money before offloading 4 hours late. The top of the hutch was ripped off, as was the trim all around the bottom. The 2 pieces stayed separate waiting 8 weeks for their compensation. $50! It was actually a negative amount after they took the deductible off but they offered the $50 after wrecking a $2000 hutch.

DO NOT USE THIS MOVING COMPANY! Look at all these similar reviews. This company still exists because they provide no compensation for ruining your furniture.

Highly recommend

Canadian Moving Systems company by far is the best moving company I have ever dealt with. From the first phone call through to the final handshake they are 100% attentive to their customers' needs. I felt valued and appreciated right away and could tell they had my best interests at heart. They have well exceeded my expectations and have really set the bar high for this industry. We have used several different moving companies in the past and Canadian Moving Systems company has outperformed every single one. Their employee base is awesome from the office staff down thru to the movers themselves. They pay attention to detail, which really does stand out in this industry. They were respectful of our belongings while packing and they showed tremendous consideration for our home while loading up. I would rate them 10 stars if I could. I was absolutely so impressed with every aspect of this company. They are very time efficient. not wasting their time, or ours for that matter. Overall, this was the best moving experience and the best moving company that I have ever had the pleasure of doing business with. I absolutely highly recommend them. Thank you so much .

Long-distance move from Calgary, AB to Vancouver, BC

Horrible.

Do not trust your precious belongings with this company. Please consider other options as our experience has been deeply disappointing and we regret trusting the company.

Firstly, our expensive bedroom furniture set and living room furniture were defaced during the move and the company also lost our dresser. Our office desk was also destroyed and left unusable. They lost boxes of our belongings.

The movers demanded we sign the contract despite us vocalizing that items were damaged and missing. The movers claimed we needed to sign for them to leave and it wouldn’t change the outcome. Within minutes of the moving van dropping off our things and leaving, I called asking about another missing item I had noticed. They hung up on me. I called back repeatedly over the next couple of days and they continued to either ignore the call or hang up. It was and is so disappointing to see how unprofessional and disrespectful they are.

The movers tried to charge us extra hundreds of dollars for their mistakes such as having to move our belongings to their warehouse related to their poor planning.

They say they’re “looking” for everything but it’s been 2 months. Why weren’t the items found immediately following the delivery? The more time that passes, the less likely anything will be recovered. At this time I am gathering that they take your furniture because there is no consequences in doing so.

The claims department takes 8 weeks.. Let that be a red flag as to how many peoples things they’ve damaged or lost. Our claim came back and there is no compensation towards our thousands of dollars worth of damages.

Please, whatever you do, do not go with this company.

Do not use this company, totally unprofessional.

We moved from Ottawa to London, Ontario in Nov 2020. The movers damaged not only many of our household items, including bed frames, buffet table, leather sofa, chairs, dining set etc, lost one of our boxes, but also extensively damaged our property -front lawn, 2 feet deep tire marks, also upheaved the interlocking blocks. After 10 weeks of waiting we were offered $30. They accept no responsibility and are very difficult to deal with. Please do not use them!

Disgrace

This company is a disgrace, practically a scam. Will get your attention with an offered quote that will come close to double when you pay. Once you're stuff is loaded you wont hear from them. After your broken property arrives, you'll get a 2-3 month waiting period before they offer you 30 bucks for settlement. Please just spare yourself and look elsewhere.

Stay Away - Far Far Away

In my opinion, this is a haulage company not a moving company. Our furniture - leather couches with marks like they were dragged across the floor of the truck, dining room table and chairs (leather chairs that they taped together) ruined, another white couch has a black spot on it that I can't get out and the legs look like they went through a wood chipper. A solid oak bar cart destroyed, crystal smashed. CMS wrapped all the furniture and it was still damaged. I wasted my time filing a claim and they offered an insulting $50. I didn't even receive an apology or any interest in learning what happened. I received an "I'm sorry" after I mentioned it would have been nice somewhere along the way. What a crock! I have filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau and I hope everyone else with this kind of review does the same. This company should not be in the business of moving people's property

20% added fee. —- terrible

We moved from Ontario to Nova Scotia. Our “China boxes” were crushed in spots. Random items broken to pieces, furniture corner packaging was ripped and furniture nicked and some had paint scrapped off. Furniture left our home in a 1 ton truck and arrived in a 53’ semi. Then we were charged an additional $652 because it couldn’t back in our driveway. It’s an additional fee scam. Who can have a 53’ truck back in their driveway? That was a 20% additional fee. Our advise look elsewhere.

Predatory and unethical practices.

I was originally quoted some $1800 for a move which is based on absurd "standard weights" for items. Kitchen chairs are estimated at 55 lbs; bookshelves at 200 lbs; floor lamps at 25 lbs; and rugs at 75 (!!!!) lbs. My 30 items were estimated at 2500 lbs.

Since I was desperate and in a rush to avoid travel restrictions, I accepted. I asked for a copy of the moving contract on multiple occasions and was denied every time. On the day of the move I get a call to confirm the list of items and I gave a rough list from memory; I then get an e-mail stating my items list was updated and an extra $200 was added to my total. This is after I paid a non-refundable deposit of $500; I was told that the updated list was final, and I could either pay the updated amount, leave some items behind, or forfeit my deposit. I am still not given a copy of the moving contract until all of my goods are already in the truck, and I am then rushed to sign the document before I have read it and before it is even filled out. Disgraceful, predatory behaviour.

To top it off, my items arrived in dreadful shape, covered in dirt and bird seed from someone else's shipment. My end tables had gouges taken out of them in multiple places, my bookshelves were taped together and the tape ripped the paint off, and the legs from my desk were forced off, breaking the connecting rods. I had to permanently screw the desk back together.

I submitted a claim only to discover there is a $425 deductible applied to the pitiful $0.60/lb coverage. To be clear -- this means the company is perfectly happy destroying 700lbs of your goods without paying a single penny in an insurance claim.

I was offered a $40 refund instead. I refused.

Do not use this company, and discourage in the strongest terms anyone who considers hiring them.

They claimed 30 days free storage, but when I asked if possible to storage for two days since we still on the way. But the customer service said I need to pay $450 and pick up by myself if I need to storage them before I arrived.

So we drove 2750km in two days to arrive before the delivery date. But after we arrived they said the truck broke down, we waited another one week after the scheduled delivery date.

I paid $160 tips for the movers, they said I have 100 boxes, but I only get 97. They charged me another $200 administration fee after they pick up my stuff.

After I got the I items I found that they put 2 labels on one box. And many damage items. After I submit the claim form, nobody contacted me. I call them after three months, they only offer me $30 for the damaged items and missing box after sign the agreement. What a joke! I refused this offer and I won't sign anything.

Long-distance move from Ontario to British Columbia

Horrible movers

If I could write 0 I would. My experience with this company included:

1. Extra cost on top of over weight for loading

2. I moved to British Columbia from Ontario and needed the free storage for one month. I was hours late setting up delivery two weeks prior to delivery and were going to charge me an extra month storage. I fought it and they ended up not charging me.

3. I had one week to unpack and list what might be missing or broken. Not enough time with big house move.

4. Multiple boxes were crushed, large plastic bin lids smashed in, 30+ items broken, antique furniture broken, etc.

5. Person I dealt with was very confrontational and appeared not to appreciate my position.

6. Total Eligibility: -$281.00 or settlement of $30

If you are thinking of going with this company, I would think twice. In my opinion they have no integrity.

Never again with CMS

We got a quote to move from Prince Edward Island to Quebec. Two days before pick up day, CMS called us saying that there was an issue with the quote and that the bill will be about $7000 more than the price we got. Finding another company was not really an option since our house was sold and it takes more than a two day notice for a company to book a customer anyway. After arguing since our budget wasn't really planned for pretty much twice the estimate, the best they did was an offer to take $150 off of the bill. This was ridiculous. We didn't have any other choice but go ahead and pay whatever they said. Never again with CMS. That being said, the two movers were fantastic and did more than expected. These two employees somehow put a band aid on our bad experience with Canadian Moving System.

Terrible Experience.

Canadian Moving Systems managed to break every piece of furniture we moved with them. The dresser has a giant hole in the back, the bed frame is missing pieces and can't be put together, and every items is scratched and gouged beyond use.

They are a booking company NOT a moving company and do not employ their own drivers. Your items will be given to other companies at the lowest rate possible and moved with other people's goods, and will be shoved in to fit regardless of space.

They will seem very nice up front, but stand by their terrible service.

Don't use CMS.

My Husband and I hired Canadian Moving Systems for our move from New Brunswick to Ontario. Because my Husband had already moved and wasn't around to help pack and move all our belongings we decided to hire movers and have them pack all of our belongings. After some online research we made the (very poor, it turns out) decision of hiring Canadian Moving Systems. The entire process was awful. The movers were late, they showed up at 8pm and packed until 1am and then returned at 8am to finish packing. The inexperienced driver was not able to back into our fully paved and cleared driveway and so they parked the truck on the road which added to the time of loading the truck - When they left the actually charged me a 'long distance carry' fee because they weren't competent enough to back a truck into a driveway. The entire packing experience was stressful as the movers were rough with our stuff and were running out of packing blankets and bubble wrap so the conserved their resources by not fully and properly wrapping all of our furniture. Once they finally left I found out that they were running behind and our stuff was going to be late. The delivery was a week later than they had promised which meant we went a week without any of our furniture or belongings. The delivery movers were better than those who loaded the truck but they were still fairly rough with our things. Once all was said and done we had one missing box (which they never even tried to locate for us) a large chip out of our coffee table, a broken speaker from our surround sound system, a cracked base on our TV, chipped and scratched artwork and picture frames, and several smaller items that were broken. I went through the claims process and the company was incredibly unhelpful and unapologetic and offered us only $50 for all the things they lost and broke.

It would have been much less stressful to have packed and moved everything ourselves. I don't have a single good thing to say about Canadian Moving Services. It was an awful experience and I wouldn't recommend the company to anyone.

Long-distance move from Calgary, AB to Halifax, NS

Terrible.

Nothing about this move went smoothly, and if I did it all again I would NOT have hired Canadian Moving Systems.
They estimated about 8-10 days for delivery when making their sales pitch. Which was nothing short of a lie.
Their customer service was lacking from the start. Once we scheduled the move, they had very little interest in keeping us informed.
They picked up our items about 2 hours later than we have been told. Not a big deal. They were in and out very fast and we were pleased with the pick up overall. The movers were nice and suggested we all the moving company to get our balance and estimate, and our expected delivery date right away. They even said that we would have to harass the company to keep informed because, unlike what we were told, they would not keep us posted. This proved true.
Then we did not hear from them for 5 days. I called many times and was told "they would call me back when they had an update". It never happened. I had to call several times to get through to anyone. I had no idea when our shipment was going to leave Calgary (it was going to Halifax). Finally, after my FOURTH phone call, they informed me that it had left Calgary. But they would not tell me what the balance was, even though that was their policy. They said it wasn't weighed in Calgary (thought I was told by 3 reps that it would be) and that they would only weigh it in Toronto. I later discovered it was weighed in Calgary, they just didn't want to tell me.
They told me it would take 5-10 days for it to get to Toronto and that once it arrived it would wait to be shipped to the east coast. They would not give me any idea of timing. Not even a vague idea.
I didn't hear from them for another 5 days and finally I called them and they said it had left Toronto. Again, they had no intention of informing me of ANYTHING. I constantly had to call and harass the company. They called me the day before it arrived and said I would have to be home the next day (a Tuesday) to have it delivered. Luckily I was able to take the afternoon off work.
They arrived two hours late and the men were the most inappropriate, sketchy people I have EVER dealt with. Four guys who swore the entire time. The truck they were driving destroyed trees all up and down our street. The men laughed and said "They need to be trimmed anyway". We got complaints from neighbours about the terrible language they were using. Our boxes were detroyed, many of our items were damaged. And before they would even open the truck, they made me fork over the $2500 that it cost. I was convinced that they would be taking off with my money and I would be left with nothing. Luckily that wasn't the case. But like I said, many things were damaged and they handled NOTHING with care.
It is my VERY STRONG RECOMMENDATION that you not go with this moving company. Absolutely terrible.

Move.

Really not happy with CMS and the way they handled my move from Vancouver to Toronto.

They lost all the legs for my dining table and dining chairs, which in turn forced me to get rid of my entire set and but a new one. Along with a box with all my glass vases and some clothes. And upon asking them to take a look at the warehouse they said because it was slow period they could not "pay someone" to go take a look at their warehouse "just for my stuff" and upon submitting a claim I only received $50 as compensation for loosing my entire Dining set with cost me over $900.

Very disappointing with them and the way they simply kept me hanging for a month until I even heard back from them. Alisa and Jill handled my issue and I was truly truly disappointed.

Missing contents.

The move was not smooth: the movers arrived about 2 hr late, and only after I had to call twice. After10 days of storage, the delivery was horrible. The movers were rough with the furniture, which were scratched, damaged and cushions ripped. The worst thing was, two of my suitcases were missing. I went through the claim process and the company offered us only $50 for all the things they lost. I refused to accept the offer, and after I voiced my displease, they contacted me and said they would thoroughly look one more time in the warehouse. It was not until 4 months after that they informed me that the suitcases were found in the warehouse. During this time, I had to keep emailing them asking for the status. They finally delivered my 2 suitcases. However, to my dismay, the suitcases had been opened (as the tape that was wrapped around on the move day was not there anymore), the contents were tampered, and items removed! My sling Coach bag plus my leather knee-high boots which were packed in the suitcases were missing, whereas old clothes were left behind. I do understand that honest mistakes happen, and things may be misplaced. However, having items stolen is not acceptable. I highly recommend against this company.

Nightmare Moving Company.

If you are looking at booking with them. Don't!
If you already have, go find a lawyer.
Our estimate tripled! When we asked for a re-scale they said "sure" and then did everything in their power to stop it.
When the moving truck finally arrived after a month of asking when our stuff was arriving, they demanded that we pay now or they will take our stuff.
We re-fused to pay the absurd amount,it was clearly over and above what our stuff actually weighed. We are still in a legal battle, they have lost so much of our belongings and broke or damaged almost everything!
They seemed great in the beginning but that all changed when we asked where our stuff was.
Do not use them, you will regret it. I do.

They are CON ARTISTS!!

PLEASE BEWARE OF THE MOVING COMPANY, CANADIAN MOVING SYSTEMS, WHOSE LINK I'VE POSTED BELOW!! THEY ARE A BUNCH OF CON ARTISTS!!

DO NOT HIRE THEM AT ANY COST, AS YOU WILL JUST BE ASKING FOR A TRULY MISERABLE EXPERIENCE!!

ALSO, IF YOU DON'T BELIEVE ME, READ THE REVIEWS ON BBB and CL!!

THEY ARE PURE THIEVING, UNADULTERATED SCUMBAG CON ARTISTS!! MY EXPERIENCE WITH THEM SO FAR IS ALSO POSTED HERE, BEFORE THE LINK TO THEIR WEBSITE SO YOU AVOID HIRING THEM AND ALSO BEING SCAMMED!!

I've already reported them to 3 Consumer Protection Agencies in 3 provinces, and also now hired a lawyer to deal with them regarding their attempt to blatantly rip me off for an ADDITIONAL unearned amount of almost $600.00!!

I had asked them for a quote for shipping from one province to another, and they gave me a quote based on 1,000 lbs, after being asked how much they think I'd need to ship. I had told them 1,000 lbs as I already knew roughly how much they weighed.

After getting the quote I was asked what day I would like to have the items picked up. I gave the date which was still two weeks away, and was the date that I had to vacate the apartment, with new tenants moving in that same day. That date, and this is important, just happened to be a National Holiday.

One of the con artists there, Amy Goncalves, had asked for a rough estimate of the number of items being shipped. I provided her with the number.

I received an email less than 24 hours before the pick up day from this shameless con artist who works for this shameless con artist company, stating that based on the number of items I listed, which were mostly boxes, a tv, a couple of shelving units, etc. the weight would be 1,460 lbs.

They didn't WEIGH ANYTHING!! Plus they have the nerve to say they are also charging a "Scaling Fee" and that the final price would be based on the 1460 lbs!!

I will reiterate. a) They didn't weigh anything! b) I know that the items could not possibly be 1,460 lbs as I had moved before with a reputable US company that actually WEIGHED the items before moved and it had come to about 1,000 lbs!

And with less than 24 hours to go before the pick up, and with new tenants moving in, and on a national holiday at that, what was the alternative? They had deliberately put a gun to my head metaphorically speaking!!

In fact, I thought they'd simply made some error, and it was an email they sent by accident.

In now reading many of the negative reviews on this website, I can absolutely believe the horrible experiences those customers have written about!

They continue to insist, despite numerous attempts to resolve and bring the actual facts to the attention of their worthless, racist, con artist of a manager, Holly Dixon, that this outrageous over inflated price is what they are charging, plus they won't even tell me where my items/possessions are being stored!!

I've even offered as a compromise that if truly think that it could be 1,460 lbs (It's not) and since they are also charging a scaling fee, then WEIGH the items in my presence at the place of storage before delivering them to me.

If they are so confident, then they have nothing to worry about, right? Plus I was specifically told that this was going to be based on the actual weight.

So they're even CONCEDING that they don't intend to weight anything! They just pulled a number out of thin air! What a bunch of con artists and hucksters!!

Which has now promoted me, as I stated earlier to file grievous complaints with 3 of the provinces they operate in, and this is in addition to having just obtained the services of a civil attorney to deal with these con artists, and I cannot wait to sue them!!
And believe me, I fervently pray the absolute worst upon them in life!!

Please, at any cost, AVOID THESE CON ARTISTS!! Please do not say you weren't warned or that no one told you!!

Some lost, some broken.

Complete disaster! - I wanted the driver to let me see my belongings (just see) before paying up front in cash. The answer was no. They forced me to pay first. Then they started to unload.. and I understood why the demanded payment. They knew my buffet was broken because when they brought it into the apartment one of the delivery guys told me: "I fixed one of the legs, but the other one is also easy to fix" - and they left the buffet right in the middle of our living/dining room.. knowing full well that we couldn't move it nor fix it because we're physically disabled. - Out of 100 units (totes, boxes, furniture, packages) picked up from our South Surrey apartment they delivered 94 - 6 missing. One of our bookcases had one top corner smashed in. How do you manage to break something at a height of 6 feet? - They created a charge for warehousing for $108.. but the conditions of the contract were that there wouldn't be charges for warehousing if the delivery at the new place was done within 30 days of the pick up date. Picked up on September 8, delivered on October 4. - The stipulated that an OFFICIAL receipt by the government scale was to be given to me to prove the actual weight of my stuff. When I paid the $2520.25 I got a piece of white paper issued by a moving company from Richmond, BC I didn't hire informing me that the net weight of the items was 4620 LBS. That is NOT an official receipt issued by the government scale. It's been 3 weeks since we received our things, they did not fix my furniture, did not even move it out of the way, my 6 boxes did not appear. My belongings were supposed to be unloaded from the long distance truck just once: in Calgary. How could 6 boxes disappear? - Don't hire this company.. I trusted them.. and look at what happened to me. Don't hire them. DON'T.

Moving Nightmare.

This moving company is a sham from beginning to end. Not my first choice, this company got my business by default .. my original company changed their pick-up date, leaving me only days to arrange an alternative company. Canadian Moving Systems came to my rescue, or so I thought. After reading the other reviews, I can safely say my bad experience with them wasn't just bad luck. It is the way they do business. Broken, scratched, mutilated and severely damaged are words I could use for most of my furniture pieces, and I do mean most. The "pick-up" people came without basic equipment to move and pack furniture -- no ladder, no protective pads, no tools to take furniture apart. They did have large plastic wraps (mattress bags) to put around upholstery, each costing $25 -- it took 2 to wrap an apartment sized sofa. No protective covering was put down on the hardwood floors or carpeted areas resulting in permanent damage (scratches, gouges) to the hardwood, and filthy, discoloured carpets. The movers were concerned about catching the ferry from Vancouver Island to the mainland so my 70 year old husband carried and stacked all the packed boxes from the basement. In the end, for fear of missing the ferry, and with at least 8 to 10 feet of truck packing space, they left most of our outside items including tables, chairs, tools and gardening equipment .. they just left it!! I could continue with a long detailed account of our experience with CMS. This is really only the beginning of our moving nightmare, but it has taken enough of my time and effort just dealing with them. The men who delivered our furniture were excellent and professional from beginning to end. The first thing they did, after being paid, was lay protective coverings on our floors. They put the furniture where we asked them to, were polite, and maintained a pleasant and jovial demeanor throughout the delivery. It is hard to believe that these people were employed by the same company as the men who picked up our furniture. We ended up paying $10,500 for our move, over 3 times what we were originally quoted. The weight was increased 6000 pounds from the original quote. We put in a claim for the damaged, destroyed and missing furniture almost two months ago. We have heard nothing.

Moving Beware.

We have made the horrible mistake of using this company Canadian Moving Systems Inc. I'm only giving them one star because I have to if I could it would be a no star. From reading all the good reviews on the Internet, my family felt safe using this company, we could'nt have been more wrong, by no means did we receive "The better way to move" at all. Not only were we charged triple what we were quoted for our one bedroom apartment, according to their industry standard weight, keeping in mind we had disposed of our dressers, couches and mattresses to minimize on weight but still our one bedroom weighed in over 4500lbs. The company while doing an inventory of every box and piece of furniture tagged with a sticker and number still managed to lose 3 large boxes and a TV stand, and did not at all use that inventory list upon delivery or use it again to reload our move from their warehouse onto the truck to go across country. The movers had no care for our property by sliding it down the delivery truck ramp causing damage, scratching paint etc. After almost 2 months, they offered a whopping $75 for thousands of dollars of missing items that were irreplaceable for example wife's wedding dress, wedding tuxedo, baby shower gifts for our newly born, and very expensive industrial vacuum attachments. I have NEVER written a review before, I'm writing this to help protect you from having this happen to you. We regret everyday not using a POD moving container, our items would've been safer and from what we have paid for this lousy company a lot cheaper too. I hope this review helps you because there wasn't one to help us, and were deeply saddened by our loss.

Long-distance move from Alberta to Ontario

The worst.

Everything was great until my delivery here's why:
1 I had broken pkates and holes in my boxes even though I wrote "this side up or fragile" so clearly its not handled properly.
2 my bedframe was missing and it took over a week to get back. I had to call at least twice a day after notifying them that it was missing. Noone would return my call and my "booking agent" was always in a meeting or out of the office ect ect ect its been a week its supposed to be delivered today but surprise its still not here.
3 they quoted 500 and charged me 1500 with a hidden warehouse fee which I was told there wasn't a charge. That I am still waiting for its been a week and I was told I would get it the day after I told them and 2 days ago.. Still haven't gotten it.
Be prepared for no answers and to be overcharged.

Service cost: $1500
